Myanmar

 

Myanmar, or Burma, was still an "insider tip" for travellers eager to avoid the top touristic highlights in Asia, as I decided to get there in September 2006.  The dictatorship held still Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest and charged tourists with fees that made me a financial supporter of the regime.

However I rarely experienced so much curiosity, respect and hospitality than in this country. Amazing landscapes though the deforestation, and an intact culture heritage that will be hopefully saved through the upcoming economic changes in the country.
