This year we take part to a new project launched by a Swiss startup called BeeHome. The 15 mason bees belong to the Osmia cornet species, they live solitary and do not produce honey. However they have a very important mission: they pollinate our apple tree, our flowers and the ones of our neighbours (in a range of about 1km). Don't hesitate to pull the lower part of the bee house to see their work. Don't be afraid: these bees don't sting!
You can contemplate them on our roof top on the chimney until end of August, their life is only 4-month short. During fall, we will send the bee house back to BeeHome, they will clean it and conserve the cocons during winter. Thus we ensure that new hosts get bees next year in Switzerland. Bee home provides also a map showing where our population grows.
We strongly believe that this kind of sustainable and ecological projects is in line with our wish to live in harmony with Mother Nature.
